Frequently Asked Questions

What is the EB-5 Visa Program?

The EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program, established by the U.S. Congress in 1990, allows qualified investors and their families to obtain permanent U.S. residency by investing in job-creating projects within the United States.

Who is eligible to apply?

Any foreign national who can prove the lawful source of their investment funds and meets standard background and immigration requirements may apply. There are no education, business, or language prerequisites.

How much do I need to invest?

The minimum investment required for the EB-5 program is $800,000 USD, directed into a qualified U.S. development located within a Targeted Employment Area (TEA).

North Star offers a unique financing option that allows eligible investors to contribute $400,000 USD of their own capital, with the remaining $400,000 financed through a loan.
The loan is repaid when the project is sold (typically in 2–3 years), and only interest payments are made during that period — making EB-5 more accessible to qualified investors.

Can I use borrowed or gifted funds?

Yes. Borrowed or gifted funds are accepted as long as their lawful source can be fully documented.

How long does the EB-5 process take?

Most investors receive conditional permanent residency within 12–24 months, followed by full permanent residency and a path to U.S. citizenship after five years.

How are my funds protected?

EB-5 projects are structured under federal oversight and regulated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), ensuring transparency and investor protection.
Each project includes escrow accounts, third-party administration, and independent audits to monitor compliance.

While all investments carry some risk, North Star partners only with institutional-grade developments that fully meet EB-5 and SEC standards.

Can my spouse and children be included?

Yes. Your EB-5 petition covers your spouse and all unmarried children under 21, granting them the same permanent residency rights and benefits.
